Harp Workshops - Sunday May 10th 2026 - Dornie Community Hall, Ardelve, Kyle of Lochalsh, IV40 8DY
Join us right on the shores of beautiful Loch Duich next to the iconic Eilean Donan Castle!
'Have-a-go' harp! - for complete beginners or newbies to revise technique - Two seperate morning workshops from 10-11.30am and 12-1.30pm. Price £40pp per workshop.
Come and have a go at playing the harp or brush up on the basics if you've already started or are self-taught - bring your own harp or hire one of ours. In this light-hearted and fun 90 minute workshop we'll cover finger technique, levers and tuning, and by the end of it we'll all play a simple Scottish tune together. Coffee, tea and cake will be provided before and after the workshops and in the breaks. Come and meet other would-be harpists, and advice will be given on how to continue playing afterwards if you're inspired to carry on.
Bring your own harp or reserve one to hire, spare harps will be extremely limited so please reserve one on booking.

Slow Session Raasay tunes - Afternoon workshop 2.30pm-4.30pm - for harp or other instruments - Price £20pp for two hours
Join this friendly and fun session, playing some tunes from the Isle of Raasay SLOWLY to gain confidence. Advice on fingering and accompanying will be covered for harpists, but other instruments are also welcome. Sheet music of the workshop tunes will be available on booking. All standards welcome, a few harps available for hire but book early to reserve yours. Tea, coffee and cake available before and after workshop and in break. Sarah's book of 28 Airs from the Isle of Raasay for harp 'The Flickering Birch', will be available to buy.

Tutor-
Sarah Deere-Jones is a graduate, prize-winner and Associate from the Royal Academy of Music, she has performed Celtic, Medieval and original music for Celtic harp at all the major harp festivals around the world including the Edinburgh harp festival, Lorient festival, Harp Holiday (Australia) and Somerset and Big Sky festivals (America). She's been teaching since the 1980s and has run courses at the above festivals as well as running the Cornwall Harp Centre since 2005. Sarah lives in Letterfearn Kintail, and has produced a book and recording of her own Highland inspired pieces for lever harp 'Echoes of the West Highlands', and published a collection of 28 Airs from the isle of Raasay for harp, called The Flickering Birch.
