Harp Workshops - Sunday May 10th 2026 - Dornie Community Hall, Ardelve, Kyle of Lochalsh, IV40 8DY

Join us right on the shores of beautiful Loch Duich next to the iconic Eilean Donan Castle!

 

'Have-a-go' harp! Morning workshops for complete beginners, 10-11.30am and 12-1.30pm.

Come and have a go at playing the harp or bring your new harp along if you've just started. In this light-hearted and fun 90 minute workshop we'll cover finger technique, semi-tone levers and tuning, and by the end of it we'll all play a simple Scottish piece together. Coffee,  tea and cake will be provided in the breaks.

Bring your own harp or book one to borrow, spare harps are extremely limited so book soon to avoid disappointment!

Slow Session Music Afternoon workshop 2.30pm-4.30pm

If you've always wanted to join a music session but you're not quite there yet, join this friendly and fun session playing some standard Scottish traditional tunes SLOWLY to gain confidence. Advice on fingering and accompanying will be covered for harpists, but other instruments are also welcome. Sheet music will be available from this page in PDF format.

Private lessons - If you're staying over or live nearby, private lessons will be available on Monday 11th May for anyone wishing to follow up workshops with some one-to-one tuition. Sarah can teach from Letterfearn in person or on-line, please email cornwallharpcentre(at)gmail.com for details.

Tutor-

Sarah is a graduate and prize-winner in harp performance from the Royal Academy of Music, she performs Celtic, Medieval and original music for Celtic harp at all the major harp festivals around the world including the Edinburgh harp festival, Lorient festival, Harp Holiday (Australia) and Somerset and Big Sky festivals (America). She's been teaching since the 1980s and has run courses at the above festivals as well as running the Cornwall Harp Centre since 2005. Sarah lives in Letterfearn Kintail, and has produced a book and recording of her own Scottish themed pieces for lever harp, and is currently arranging a book of traditional music from the isle of Raasay for harp.
